Job summary

Chemring Countermeasures is seeking a Maintenance Team Leader to take ownership of the shift maintenance team and keep the Salisbury site operating safely, efficiently and reliably.

You will lead a team of skilled engineers, drive maintenance performance, champion safety standards and support continuous improvement of critical manufacturing assets. This is a hands-on, leadership role in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship (ONC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• At least 5 years’ experience in a mechanical, electrical or automated manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading engineering or maintenance teams.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and machinery safety principles.
• Understanding of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Eligible to work in the UK.
• COMPEX certification (Gas & Dust).
• Multi-skilled engineering background.
• Knowledge of ESD precautions.

Responsibilities

• Leading, coaching and developing a team of Maintenance Engineers.
• Managing performance, attendance, training and competency development.
• Supervising planned, reactive and project maintenance activities.
• Coordinating resources to support production priorities.
• Working with Planning and Reliability teams to improve asset performance.
• Acting as an authorised Permit Issuer and overseeing contractor activities.
• Championing health, safety and environmental standards.
• Supporting shutdowns, improvement projects and incident investigations.

At Chemring Countermeasures, we're looking for an experienced Maintenance Team Leader to take ownership of our shift maintenance team and play a key role in keeping our site operating safely, efficiently and reliably.

This is more than a supervisory role. You'll be leading a team of skilled engineers, driving maintenance performance, championing safety standards and supporting the continuous improvement of critical manufacturing assets.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading, coaching and developing a team of Maintenance Engineers
• Managing performance, attendance, training and competency development
• Supervising planned, reactive and project maintenance activities
• Coordinating resources to support production priorities
• Working closely with Maintenance Planning and Reliability teams to improve asset performance
• Acting as an authorised Permit Issuer and overseeing contractor activities across site

• Supporting maintenance shutdowns, improvement projects and investigations into equipment failures and incidents

What We’re Looking For

We're seeking a hands‑on leader who can inspire a team while maintaining a strong focus on safety, reliability and continuous improvement.

• Experience leading engineering or maintenance teams
• Time-served apprenticeship (ONC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)

• Experience executing maintenance plans and coordinating maintenance activities
