Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a Maintenance Surveyor to join the Contract Services team. The role focuses on managing repairs and contractor work, analysing defects, preparing specifications, and ensuring quality within procurement rules. Hybrid working is available with out-of-hours rota coverage.

You will deliver repairs and voids surveying, monitor progress, and help drive improvements in procedures and quality controls across owned and managed properties.

Responsibilities

• Deliver responsive repairs and voids surveying across owned and managed properties, ensuring safety and statutory compliance.
• Manage responsive repairs, take corrective action and provide progress updates to the Contract Manager.
• Analyse building defects, prepare detailed specifications and recommend remedial repairs in line with legislation and building standards.
• Monitor contractors and consultants, carry out post-inspections and quality-control checks.
• Manage budgets, quotations and estimates under procurement procedures, securing value for money.
• Keep accurate records and provide high-standard communication and customer care, including handling complaints and written responses.
• Identify more efficient service delivery methods and suggest improvements to procedures, processes and quality controls.
• Share technical advice with colleagues.
• Take part in out-of-hours cover when required, under the Contract Services rota.

The post covers managing repairs and contractor work, analysing building defects, preparing specifications and checking quality, while keeping budgets and quotations within procurement rules. Hybrid working is available where agreed with the manager, alongside out-of-hours cover on the Contract Services rota.
