Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a Maintenance Surveyor to deliver a responsive repairs and void surveying service across its owned and managed properties. The role reports to the Contract Manager and works with residents, leaseholders, contractors and partners to ensure safe, compliant, high‑quality repairs.

Responsibilities

• Managing responsive repairs, taking corrective action where required and providing regular progress updates to the Contract Manager.
• Analysing building defects, preparing detailed specifications and recommending appropriate remedial repairs in line with current legislation and building standards.
• Monitoring the performance of contractors and consultants, carrying out post-inspections and quality-control checks to ensure work is completed to the required standard.
• Managing budgets, quotations and estimates in accordance with procurement procedures, while ensuring value for money is achieved.
• Maintaining accurate records and providing a high standard of communication and customer care, including taking ownership of complaints and providing written responses where required.
