Job summary

Safran in the West Midlands is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor on a double days shift pattern. You will coordinate planned and reactive maintenance using CMMS, manage resources, and lead daily team communications with production and suppliers to drive continuous improvement and reliable equipment.

You will combine leadership with hands-on technical work, triage work orders, supervise the maintenance team, and support breakdown investigations to implement long-term fixes.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3/ONC/HNC in engineering or equivalent required.
  • Experience using CMMS for work orders, KPI tracking and planning.
  • Experience leading a small maintenance team.

Responsibilities

  • Triage CMMS work orders for reactive/planned tasks and allocate labour.
  • Lead daily team meetings, gather data, and maintain performance visuals.
  • Review work orders with technicians and ensure tools/support are available.

About the Role:

You will coordinate and prioritise planned and reactive maintenance activities through the CMMS system, manage maintenance resources, support KPI delivery and lead daily team communications. Working closely with production teams, suppliers and technical specialists, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives, support breakdown investigations and help implement long-term solutions that improve equipment performance and reliability. This role combines strong leadership responsibilities with hands‑on technical involvement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems and driving operational excellence within a manufacturing environment.

  • Triage incoming Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) work orders to assign labour for reactive and planned tasks optimising the resource available.
  • Conduct daily team meetings to gather data, address concerns, and keep performance visuals up to date.
  • Review CMMS work orders with maintenance technicians, ensuring they have the tools and support to be effective in their roles.
  • Provide seamless shift handovers and log critical updates.
  • Perform hands‑on maintenance duties matching your technical expertise when required.
  • Assist the Equipment Performance team in breakdown investigations to identify permanent fixes and continuous improvement opportunities.
What You'll Bring
  • NVQ Level 3 and an ONC/HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
  • Experience using CMMS systems for work order management, maintenance planning, KPI tracking and reporting
  • Experience leading or managing a small team
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Experience within an Aerospace or Automotive background beneficial
