Brazen Search is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor / Engineering Team Leader for a fast-paced packaging manufacturing site in Leeds. The role leads a multi-skilled team, ensuring maximum plant availability while hands-on with automated production equipment.

You'll drive safety, reliability and continuous improvement, coaching engineers and managing both reactive and preventative maintenance on site. Excellent benefits accompany a competitive package.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support during major breakdowns and during planned maintenance.
• Drive continuous improvement, RCA and KPI delivery (downtime, OEE, PPM).
• Collaborate with Production, Quality and Operations to optimise performance.

Are you an experienced Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader or Senior Maintenance Engineer looking for your next challenge within a fast-paced packaging manufacturing environment?

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading packaging manufacturer that continues to invest heavily in its people, machinery and engineering function. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a team of multi-skilled engineers while remaining hands-on with modern automated production equipment.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the engineering team on shift, ensuring maximum plant availability while driving safety, reliability and continuous improvement across the site.

This is a genuine leadership position where you'll still be involved in technical fault finding whilst coaching and developing your engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a team of Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineers.
• Allocate workload and prioritise engineering activities throughout the shift.
• Support both reactive and planned preventative maintenance across automated packaging machinery.
• Provide technical support during major electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
• Drive continuous improvement and root cause analysis (RCA) activities.
• Ensure engineering KPIs including downtime, OEE and PPM completion are achieved.
• Work closely with Production, Quality and Operations teams to maximise equipment performance.
• Maintain high Health & Safety standards and engineering compliance.
• Support installation and commissioning of new production equipment.
• Develop maintenance strategies to improve reliability and reduce recurring faults.

About You

We're looking for an experienced engineer who has progressed into a supervisory or team leadership position.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader or Senior Maintenance Engineer.
• Background within Packaging, FMCG, Food, Print, Plastics, Paper, Recycling or Automated Manufacturing. Packaging manufacturing experience is especially desirable.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with PLC fault diagnosis.
• Knowledge of conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, gearboxes, drives and automated machinery.
• Experience leading engineering teams within a manufacturing environment.
• A recognised Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
