Purpose
The Mechanical Supervisor is a key role within the Maintenance team to support the safe operation of assets, plant productivity, and reliability. As the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you will be a direct report to the Mechanical Maintenance Technicians and Mechanical Shift Maintenance Technician, and report directly to the Maintenance Manager.
The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all mechanical maintenance tasks. This role is key to driving and maintaining all site safety standards throughout the Maintenance team, ensuring site and industry regulations are followed, allowing operation as a top-tier COMAH Site. You will work closely with operations to ensure customer quality requirements relating to ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001, and cGMP are maintained, along with requirements for cross-contamination prevention.
Take full responsibility for all Mechanical Maintenance activities, delivering tasks safely and promptly. Collaborate with the Planning & Scheduling team and Site Engineers to increase plant reliability for all production assets.
Key Accountabilities
The main duties include maintaining Health, Safety, and Environmental standards during all work, managing all Mechanical work (breakdowns, PMs, compliance, regulatory work, defects), and ensuring timely completion and proper documentation within the CMMS system.
Manage the Mechanical Maintenance team daily, including work allocation, reviewing work packs, ensuring RAMS are adequate, and updating progress. Take responsibility for priority work from defect raising to completion, including PRs, organizing resources, and creating RAMS.
Ensure work is documented and closed in the Maintenance Management System. Manage team timekeeping, holidays, disciplinary matters, and deputies for the Maintenance Manager. Work with the Maintenance Planner on job packs, RAMS, and schedules. Contribute to RCAs and follow-up actions to improve equipment performance and reliability.
Provide first-line problem solving for mechanical faults or work issues. Engage in continuous improvement activities, ensuring PMs are properly raised and executed.
Ensure all Environmental, Health & Safety requirements are met during maintenance tasks. Promote a positive safety culture, ensuring work is safe and compliant with guidelines. Report accidents, near misses, and share good practices.
Ensure timely completion of PMs, compliance, and regulatory work orders. Supervise Mechanical Technicians, instructing on priority work, supporting projects, and liaising with OEM contractors for inspections and future PM planning.
