Maintenance Supervisor - South Essex (RM18)

Location: Commutable from Grays, Romford, Tilbury, Pufleet, Basildon, Southend-On-Sea, Wickford

Working Hours: Monday-Friday Days (08:00-16:00) + 1 in 4 Call Out Rota (24/7)

Salary: £55,000

Our client is a leading manufacturer, part of a multi-billion-pound global group, renowned for product quality and industry-leading standards. Due to growth within the engineering team, they are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor.

Role & Responsibilities:

1. Carrying out PPM, reactive & predictive maintenance/breakdown analysis
2. 75% hands-on work / 25% administrative duties
3. Leading a team of 5 maintenance engineers + 2 apprentices
4. Dealing with industrial processing & manufacturing equipment
5. Working on machinery such as conveyors, silos, blowers, presses, baggers, production equipment, mixers, industrial control systems, elevators, PLCs, fillers, robotics, 415V AC systems
6. Electrical & mechanical fault finding, analysis & repair
7. Part of the 1 in 4 week call out rota (24/7)
8. Inventory control - managing stores, ordering spares & parts, supplier negotiation
9. Planning & scheduling workload, monitoring PPM plans
10. Collating & reporting data for daily KPIs for the engineering team
11. Issuing work permits and supervising contractors on site

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Must be a multi-skilled engineer - electrically biased
• Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship - NVQ Level 3 or higher
• Problem solver, approachable, with good prioritisation skills
• Ability to react to breakdowns effectively, safely, and efficiently
• Electrical & mechanical fault-finding capabilities
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, heights, and using breathing equipment
• Experience in food, FMCG, or industrial fast-paced manufacturing environments
• Flexible character - willing to partake in on-call rota and work extra hours if needed
• Experience with heavy industrial manufacturing equipment/systems
• Worked on compressors, bearings, shafts, gearboxes, chains, belts, blowers, rollers
• PLC - electrical fault-finding skills
