Job summary

Dr. Oetker in Leyland, UK, is seeking a Maintenance Shift Engineer for the Day Shift to join our maintenance team at the Leyland production site.

The role focuses on safe, effective, right-first-time maintenance support, responding to equipment failures, and driving a proactive, data-driven asset-care model. You will perform reactive and planned maintenance, record CMMS data, and collaborate across Production and Engineering while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in Electrical and/or Mechanical Maintenance Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least two years’ post-apprenticeship maintenance experience, ideally within food manufacturing or an FMCG environment.
• A systematic and analytical approach to problem solving, with good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and digital maintenance systems.
• A positive, flexible and self-motivated team player with strong communication skills and a detail-conscious approach.

Responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns safely and effectively, restoring equipment quickly and supporting hand back.
• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance to a high standard, helping to prevent repeat failures and improve machine reliability.
• Record accurate work-order history using the CMMS system, ensuring maintenance data is clear, complete and useful.
• Work closely with colleagues across Production, Engineering and other departments while maintaining high standards in safety, food safety, quality and workmanship.
