The Data Centre Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating proactive maintenance works in the data centre. This role collaborates with field and network operations teams, engineering, and the customer to ensure a highly reliable data centre environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and scheduling all preventative and corrective maintenance activities in the data centre.
- Liaising with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Monitoring and reporting on the status of maintenance tasks to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensuring all maintenance works comply with safety standards, operational policies, and procedures.
- Updating the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) with complete and real-time data.
- Identifying critical facility equipment, assessing risks, and implementing preventative measures.
- Reviewing maintenance plans and schedules regularly to optimize resources.
- Participating in planning and executing disaster recovery procedures.
- Coordinating with teams for planned and emergency shutdowns to ensure minimal disruption.
- Continuously improving maintenance scheduling processes and benchmarking against industry standards.
- Asset Management Review – ensuring correct assets are assigned on Maximo, highlighting discrepancies to the Maximo team.
- De-clashing critical maintenance activities.
- Updating the maintenance planner and highlighting delays or issues for discussion during quarterly reviews.
- Attending weekly and quarterly maintenance and KPI meetings.
- Providing support to maintenance teams and engineers.
- Assisting with on-site audits and reporting.
- Traveling between data centre sites to provide support.
- Performing any ad-hoc duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within data centres, facilities management, or building operations.
- Knowledge of data centre infrastructure, including HVAC, fire suppression, electrical systems, and UPS.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and planning skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in CMMS or similar software (Maximo / SNOW advantageous).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in data centres.
- Data centre operations or facilities management certification is a plus.
- Ability to work on-call for emergencies outside normal hours.
