Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a maintenance and inspections operative to service the DBFO Network across bridges, gantries, and related assets. The role blends hands-on maintenance with record-keeping, log updates, and management system entries.

You will lead tasks, plan work, and communicate with your Line Manager while safely operating small plant and equipment and ensuring work is delivered to company standards. Training is provided where needed.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; full training provided.
• SSSTS qualification.
• CSCS card holder.
• Experience in small works.
• Soft estates skills (e.g. strimming, hedge cutting).
• Working at height (MEWPs and gantry access ladders).
• Confined space certification.
• Full driving licence.

About The Role

To undertake routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of structures across the DBFO Network, including bridges, gantries, and other associated assets. The role involves a combination of hands-on maintenance activities and administrative responsibilities, including maintaining accurate records, updating management systems, and completing inspection and maintenance logs.

The successful candidate will Require strong IT skills and be capable of leading a team, planning work tasks and providing regular feedback to their Line Manager, and operating small plant and equipment as required to support maintenance activities. The role requires a proactive approach to safety, organisation, and effective communication to ensure works are delivered efficiently and in accordance with company standards.
