Job summary

CareTech in Colchester is seeking a Maintenance Operative to carry out domestic repairs and general upkeep across our residential care sites for children, young people and adults.

You will ensure safety, cleanliness and high repair standards, maintain accurate records, and assist with audits. You will coordinate with the Regional Facilities Manager on larger projects and identify improvements to site functionality and environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with compliance and record keeping.
• Trade background preferred but not essential.
• Building and maintenance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Carry the responsibility for domestic repairs and maintenance of the premises.
• Ensure the environment is safe, welcoming, clean and in good repair.
• Provide high standards of record keeping and reports.
• Participate in regular audits of quality systems.
• Address works from contractors to required standards.
• Ensure compliance with current national regulations and inspection standards.
• Manage maintenance workload and proactive works.
• Liaise with Regional Facilities Manager on larger projects.
• Identify facility projects to improve efficiency and image.
• Ensure areas with contractors are left in good condition.
• Manage upkeep of the grounds.
