Maintenance Operative - £12.60 per hour

Working Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8am-4:30pm

Shaw Healthcare is looking for a Maintenance Person to join our team at Abbott House in Oundle. Our team is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those we care for, maintaining high standards of care and safety.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining the exterior of the building and grounds to a high standard
  • Managing building works and refurbishments with minimal disruption
  • Performing routine monitoring and repairs on systems, liaising with the Home Manager for specialized repairs
  • Conducting safety tests (boilers, fire alarms, water systems) and recording results
  • Advising the Home Manager on maintenance issues such as heating, refrigeration, electrics, and gas
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety at Work Act (e.g., COSHH), recording safety checks
  • Maintaining safety and cleanliness standards per environmental health and fire safety regulations
  • Safely storing and maintaining tools and equipment
  • Assisting staff with repairs and emergency procedures, including staff induction
  • Providing advice and being available for emergency calls outside of working hours
  • Supporting residents' outings by driving the home’s minibus when needed
