Job summary

Greensleeves Care is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Operative to join our facilities team. You will carry out minor repairs to buildings, furniture, fixtures and equipment, and support with safety and fire procedures within our care home.

The role requires a trade qualification or relevant maintenance experience, plus ability to work with contractors and drive company vehicles. We offer a supportive environment with learning opportunities and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• A trade qualification or equivalent experience in maintenance.
• Experience with repairs, decorating, electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
• Experience with Fire and Health & Safety checks and record keeping.
• Experience working with onsite building contractors.
• Clean driving license and ability to drive company vehicles.
• Care environment experience (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs to buildings, furniture and equipment; liaise with external contractors for specialised work.
• Assist with induction/training of colleagues on safety and evacuation procedures.
• Support in leading fire drills and exercises.
• Carry out general gardening and ensure outdoor spaces are tidy and secure.

As the Maintenance Operative, you will:

• Carry out minor repairs to buildings, furniture, fixtures and equipment, minor plumbing and carpentry within the home as required, liaise with the Property Advisor and external contractors for more specialised repairs or projects.
• Assist with the induction and training of colleagues, e.g., fire familiarisation, operation of emergency exits, fire points and evacuation procedures.
• Participate in supporting to lead of fire drills and exercises.
• Carry out general gardening tasks, ensure outbuildings, storage sheds, etc. are tidy, safe, and secure.

To apply, you will need:

• A trade or similar qualification and/ or experience within a maintenance or similar environment (Essential)
• Extensive experience of carrying out repairs, general decoration, basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry(Essential)
• Demonstrable experience of Fire and all Health & Safety checks and other legislative obligations along with the associated record keeping(Essential)
• Experience with dealing with onsite building contractors(Essential)
• Clean driving license, and ability to drive the company vehicles, including minibus subject to age and licence categories(Essential)
• Experience in the care environment (Desirable)
