Maintenance Operative - Sheffield

Salary: £28,000

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm

We combine style, luxury, and comfort with premium amenities and vibrant city life. Our Maintenance Operatives play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of building facilities. This customer-facing role involves maintaining Vita Student’s high standards of building quality.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests promptly, addressing issues with plumbing, electrical systems, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and other equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fire alarm and firefighting systems.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair plant room systems.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify issues and perform scheduled maintenance (PPM).
• Carry out general repairs, including fixing leaks, broken fixtures, appliances, doors, and walls.
• Perform basic carpentry and painting, such as replacing flooring, repairing furniture, and touch-up work.
• Manage stock levels for maintenance supplies and parts.
• Ensure safety compliance by adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.
• Maintain outdoor areas, including grass-cutting and hedge-trimming.
• Collaborate with other departments like housekeeping and management to coordinate maintenance and guest requests.

Candidate Profile

Experience

• Experience in fire alarm and firefighting system maintenance.
• Familiarity with plant room operations.
• Skilled in plumbing, electrical work, heating/cooling, lighting, and general maintenance.
• Experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
• Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance.
• Stock management experience is advantageous.
• Experience in outdoor ground maintenance.
• IT literacy.
