About The Role

Maintenance Operative / Handy Person

Marjorie House Residential Home, Lilliput, Poole, BH14 8LT

Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday

Care South has an opportunity for a Maintenance / Handyperson to join the team at Marjorie House, our beautiful residential care home in Poole, Dorset.

Join Our Team

As a Maintenance/ Handyperson, you will be a crucial part of the team, ensuring the care home remains functional. Your responsibilities will include carrying out a variety of building maintenance and repairs to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for our elderly residents.

We are looking for someone proactive, ensuring repairs are completed safely and to a high standard. Key duties include both planned and reactive maintenance across all areas of the home, such as plumbing, heating, electrical work, decoration, fire testing, care equipment, and carpentry.

Care South supports your career development, including Fire Safety or Legionella training or updates to your current certification.

About You

Ideally, you will have experience working in a care home or similar environment involving multiple maintenance tasks daily. Confidence in using your initiative and working independently is essential. Flexibility for possible evening or weekend emergency call-outs is also required. Occasionally, you may support maintenance needs at other Care South residential homes.

Skills & Experience

• Basic Electrical Safety certificate
• Knowledge of Plumbing and Legionella
• Experience with heating, electrical, and fire systems
• Heating and/or Plumbing qualifications – ideal but not essential
