The Role of a Maintenance Operative

The Maintenance Operative is responsible for domestic repairs and maintenance, minor projects, and site compliance.

• Ensure all parts of the environment are safe, welcoming, clean, hygienic, and in good repair, sensitive to the needs of the students.
• Maintain high standards of record keeping and reporting.
• Participate in and undertake regular audits of quality systems.
• Address contractor works that fall below standards.
• Ensure compliance with national regulations and inspection standards relevant to the establishment.
• Manage workload proactively and effectively.
• Collaborate with the Regional Facilities Manager on larger projects and seek technical assistance from the Facilities Manager.
• Identify projects to improve the facility's image, functionality, and efficiency.
• Complete projects within schedule and ensure contractor areas are left in good condition.
• Maintain the grounds.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Building and Maintenance knowledge.
• Experience with compliance and record keeping.
• Trade background preferred but not essential.
• Enhanced DBS and reference checks in line with regulations.
