Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team. With a genuine interest in DIY and enthusiasm, our Maintenance team promotes excellent health and safety standards within and around the home, supporting the Home Manager to maintain a safe environment. As one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK, we aim to couple great care with meaningful and enjoyable experiences.

Responsibilities of a Maintenance Assistant:

1. Upkeep of the Care Home and surrounding grounds, including planned maintenance to ensure a positive first impression for visitors.
2. Ensuring the smooth operation of services such as heating, lighting, plumbing, and non-medical equipment for the safe and efficient running of the Home.
3. Maintaining the home's exterior, including pathways, driveways, gardens, and external lighting and signage.
4. Completing compliance checks and reporting maintenance defects.
5. Engaging proactively with stakeholders to carry out tasks effectively and to a high standard.
6. Performing decorating tasks, including painting and wallpapering, as well as minor refurbishments and repairs.
7. Participating in an out-of-hours emergency rota and providing temporary cover for sister homes as needed.
8. Being trained as an active Fire Warden and inducting new staff.
9. Assembling and installing new equipment and goods.
10. Assisting with fire and water risk assessments and reviews.
11. Carrying out plumbing, joinery, and general building repairs to a high standard.
12. Maintaining the company vehicle and conducting safety checks.

Qualifications and Attributes:

1. Interest in promoting independence and lifestyle opportunities for older people, with the ability to work unsupervised.
2. Confidence in fault finding and basic repairs of equipment such as catering and laundering machines.
3. Passion and commitment to delivering high-quality services.
