Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is seeking a Maintenance Operative for Braintree Mews Care Home to keep the building in good order. The role covers general maintenance across electrical, plumbing, joinery and building systems, inside and outside the home, plus re-decoration and material ordering.

You’ll work on an on-call rota for out-of-hours cover, require a full driving licence and at least one year’s general maintenance experience or a trade qualification.

Qualifications

• One year's experience in general maintenance or a handyperson role, or a professional trade qualification.
• Full driving licence.
• Knowledge of health and safety, including moving and handling, fire safety and COSHH assessments.
• Adaptable and flexible, able to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and basic repairs across electrical, plumbing, joinery and building tasks, inside and outside the home.
• Ensure the building and grounds are well maintained, including routine checks to services.
• Apply basic fixes to equipment and systems so facilities stay fully functional.
• Undertake routine re-decoration to maintain the home's standards.
• Advise on the supply and quality of materials and order replacements in good time.
• Provide out-of-hours emergency cover as part of an on-call rota.
• Support new residents to arrange their rooms as they wish.
