Job summary

Avery Park Care Home in Kettering is seeking a Maintenance Operative to maintain buildings and grounds, carry out routine checks and basic repairs across electrical, plumbing and joinery, inside and outside the home. You will support residents with room arrangements and provide on-call cover for out-of-hours emergencies.

Candidates need at least one year in general maintenance or a handyperson role, or a trade qualification, plus a full driving licence.

Qualifications

• At least one year in general maintenance or a handyperson role, or hold a trade qualification.
• Good knowledge of health and safety, including moving and handling, fire safety and COSHH.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and basic repairs across electrical, plumbing, joinery and building work, inside and outside the home.
• Keep the building and grounds well maintained and fully functional, including routine checks on services.
• Apply basic fixes to equipment and systems.
• Provide out-of-hours emergency cover through the on-call rota.
• Help new residents arrange their rooms as they wish.
• Carry out routine re-decoration to maintain standards in the home.
• Advise on the supply and quality of items used for tasks.
• Order replacement goods in good time and appropriately.
