Job summary

Crystal Care Collection Limited is recruiting for a Maintenance Officer at Parsons Ridge, Braunton, Devon, opening in 2027. The role focuses on keeping the home clean, safe and homely while supporting the Home Manager and coordinating with contractors.

Hours are 09:00-17:00, Monday to Friday (about 40 hours/week). On-call duties apply. Induction, uniform, DBS check, and other benefits are provided. Sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Health & Safety compliance and risk assessments.
• Fire safety and COSHH compliance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks within the individual's capability in all areas of the home as requested by employees and the General Manager.
• Meet statutory and legal requirements such as Food Safety, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety to maintain a safe environment.
• Carry out regular maintenance and safety checks (including fire) with up-to-date records and report deficiencies promptly.
• Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and choices, ensuring a homely environment for residents.
• Liaise with General Manager to keep the home in good decorative order and a welcoming atmosphere.
• Coordinate with external contractors to ensure Health & Safety and Care Act compliance.
• Maintain grounds and garden areas, keeping them neat and tidy.
• Engage with colleagues and contribute to team meetings; be on call for emergencies.

As the Maintenance Officer, you will make sure Parsons Ridge has a clean and well-maintained environment so that residents feel at home and staff can do their jobs well. Creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere is part of our commitment to delivering first-class care and support. You will play a key role in supporting the Home Manager and will oversee the maintenance and safety of the home, ensuring all aspects of the building and grounds are well kept, ensuring service delivery is unaffected. You will make health and safety your priority and ensure the highest standards are delivered at all times according to legislative guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

• To carry out repairs and maintenance tasks within the individual's capability in all areas of the home as requested by employees and the General Manager, complying with the care home's policies and procedures manual.
• To understand and meet statutory and legal requirements such as Food Safety, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety, to maintain a safe environment throughout the care home.
• To carry out specific maintenance and regular safety checks (including fire) as identified in the maintenance check list, keeping accurate, up to date records of the checks. Reporting any deficiencies to the General Manager and following these up promptly.
• To respect residents at all times, especially their individual right to privacy, dignity and choice, incorporating residents' needs and requirements into your work routine so that the care home is pleasant to both live and work.
• To liaise with the General Manager ensuring the care home is maintained in good decorative order, the environment is comfortable, friendly and has a 'homely' feel for the residents.
• To liaise with external contractors entering the home when carrying out authorised work to ensure that all requirements relating to Health and Safety and the Health & Social Care Act legislation are fully met.
• To maintain the grounds and garden areas, keeping them in a neat and tidy condition.
• To be approachable and interactive with colleagues, contributing to team meetings and helping team members as appropriate. Ensure that care home is a friendly and supportive caring environment.
• You will be required to be on call in the event of an emergency.
