Job summary

Crystal Care Collection Limited in Bourne is seeking a Maintenance Officer to ensure a clean, safe and homely environment for residents and staff.

You will oversee building and grounds maintenance, conduct safety checks, liaise with the General Manager, assist with on-call emergencies and ensure compliance with Health and Safety and care legislation. Hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday, with an hourly rate of £16.58.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks within the individual's capability in all areas of the home as requested by employees and the General Manager, complying with policies and procedures.
• Understand and meet statutory and legal requirements such as Food Safety, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety, to maintain a safe environment throughout the care home.
• Carry out specific maintenance and regular safety checks (including fire) as identified in the maintenance checklist, keeping accurate, up-to-date records of the checks.
• Respect residents at all times, ensuring privacy, dignity and choice are respected and that the environment remains pleasant to live and work.
• Liaise with the General Manager to maintain the home in good decorative order and a homely feel for residents.
• Coordinate with external contractors to ensure Health & Safety and relevant legislation are met.
• Maintain grounds and garden areas in neat condition.
• Be approachable and interactive with colleagues, contributing to team meetings and supporting staff.
• Be on call in the event of emergencies.

As the Maintenance Officer, you will make sure Foxcrest Hills has a clean and well-maintained environment so that residents feel at home and staff can do their jobs well. Creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere is part of our commitment to delivering first-class care and support. You will play a key role in supporting the Home Manager and will oversee the maintenance and safety of the home, ensuring all aspects of the building and grounds are well kept, ensuring service delivery is unaffected. You will make health and safety your priority and ensure the highest standards are delivered at all times according to legislative guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

• -To carry out repairs and maintenance tasks within the individual's capability in all areas of the home as requested by employees and the General Manager, complying with the care home's policies and procedures manual.
• -To understand and meet statutory and legal requirements such as Food Safety, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety, to maintain a safe environment throughout the care home.
• -To carry out specific maintenance and regular safety checks (including fire) as identified in the maintenance check list, keeping accurate, up to date records of the checks. Reporting any deficiencies to the General Manager and following these up promptly.
• -To respect residents at all times, especially their individual right to privacy, dignity and choice, incorporating residents' needs and requirements into your work routine so that the care home is pleasant to both live and work.
• -To liaise with the General Manager ensuring the care home is maintained in good decorative order, the environment is comfortable, friendly and has a 'homely' feel for the residents.
• -To liaise with external contractors entering the home when carrying out authorised work to ensure that all requirements relating to Health and Safety and the Health & Social Care Act legislation are fully met.
• -To maintain the grounds and garden areas, keeping them in a neat and tidy condition.
• -To be approachable and interactive with colleagues, contributing to team meetings and helping team members as appropriate. Ensure that care home is a friendly and supportive caring environment.
• -You will be required to be on call in the event of an emergency.

Hours of work: (09:00-17:00) and you will be expected to work Monday-Friday, which equates to an average of 40 hours per week in total.

Hourly Rate of Pay: £16.58 per hour
