Job summary

RBH Hospitality Management is seeking a maintenance/handyman professional to support hotel operations at Hampton by Hilton Manchester Northern Quarter. You will perform general building maintenance, routine repairs, and assist with preventative upkeep to ensure guest areas remain safe and well-presented.

You will work with the Maintenance Manager to respond quickly to requests, conduct inspections, and support contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, handyman, facilities or engineering roles is desirable.
• Good practical knowledge of general building maintenance (plumbing, electrical, decorating, repairs).
• Hands-on approach with ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support the Maintenance Manager in keeping hotel standards high and spaces safe and presentable.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks, repairs and minor improvements across the hotel.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and identify issues before they become larger problems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work efficiently to minimise disruption.
• Conduct checks of equipment, plant areas, bedrooms and public spaces, reporting concerns.

• Support the Maintenance Manager in maintaining the hotel's high standards, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and facilities are safe, functional, and well-presented at all times.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor improvement works across the hotel to help deliver an excellent guest experience.
• Assist with the preventative maintenance programme, helping to identify and resolve issues before they become larger problems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and colleagues, working efficiently to minimise disruption to hotel operations.
• Conduct regular checks and inspections of hotel equipment, plant areas, bedrooms, and public spaces, reporting any concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
• Support contractors and external service providers when on site, ensuring work is carried out safely and in line with hotel procedures.
• Help maintain accurate maintenance records, completing job logs and reporting completed works as required.
• Ensure all tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
• Assist with room refurbishments, decorating projects, furniture repairs, and general upkeep of the property.
• Work closely with all departments to support daily operations and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained environment for guests and team members.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, facilities, or engineering role is desirable, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
• Good practical knowledge of general building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, decorating, and repair work.
• A hands‑on approach with strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards throughout the hotel.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond to changing operational needs.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and develop within the maintenance function.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements and a commitment to working safely at all times.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency call‑outs when required.
• A genuine commitment to supporting colleagues and creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for our guests.
