Maintenance Fitter – Purfleet £50,000 - £55,000

Do you enjoy solving mechanical problems and keeping equipment running smoothly?

We’re looking for a Fitter to join our team at Heidelberg Materials UK in Purfleet. You’ll be responsible for inspections, maintenance, and supporting plant operations — helping us stay safe, efficient and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance in line with schedules and procedures
• Conduct daily inspections, identify faults, and take corrective action to reduce breakdowns
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, incidents, and near hits
• Support electrical and production departments when required
• Participate in planned shutdowns and provide out-of-hours breakdown cover on a rota basis
• Supervise contractors and ensure safe working practices
• Maintain workshops, equipment, and facilities to high standards
• Ensure proper isolation procedures are followed
• Assist with plant improvements and development projects
• Provide holiday and sickness cover for plant operators, including sampling, cleaning, and deputising for the Miller
• Work at other Heidelberg Materials sites as needed
• Ensure correct storage and handling of oils, lubricants, and gases
• Identify and respond to spillages and maintain clean, safe work areas

Qualifications
