Job summary

Canmore Recruitment is seeking a Maintenance Fitter for an Inverness-shire site. The role is permanent with a circa £35k base, plus a 30% night shift allowance and a four-week rotating pattern of day and night shifts, totaling 42 hours per week.

You will maintain hydraulic and mechanical systems, diagnose faults, and take ownership of preventative maintenance. A hands-on, safety-conscious team player is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Maintenance Fitter in an industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with pumps, gearboxes, bearings and chains.
• Fault finding and repair of production machinery.
• Computer literacy for maintenance records and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative maintenance on hydraulic and mechanical equipment across the site.
• Repair and rebuild hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, pumps and gearboxes.
• Fault finding, troubleshooting and repair of production machinery.
• Welding, cutting and grinding as required.
• Work to risk assessments and safe systems of work at all times.
• Support colleagues across maintenance and production teams.
• Contribute to team meetings on production and maintenance issues.
• Take part in ongoing training to keep skills current.

Maintenance Fitter | Inverness-shire | Permanent | circa £35k (+ shift allowance)

An industrial production site in Inverness-shire is hiring a Maintenance Fitter with experience in hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical repairs. This is a hands-on role for someone who's spent time on the tools in a fast-paced production environment and knows their way around pumps, gearboxes, bearings and chains.

You’ll be joining a small maintenance team responsible for keeping production equipment running with minimal downtime. It's varied, practical work across mechanical and hydraulic systems, with real ownership over the preventative maintenance you put in place. The role works a four-week rotating pattern of day shifts and night shifts, 42 hours a week, with a 30% night shift allowance on top of your base rate.

What you’ll be doing:

• Carrying out preventative maintenance on hydraulic and mechanical equipment across the site
• Repairing and rebuilding hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, pumps and gearboxes
• Fault finding, troubleshooting and repairing production machinery
• Welding, cutting and grinding as required

• Supporting colleagues across the maintenance and production teams

What you’ll bring:

• Time served as a Maintenance Fitter, or solid mechanical experience gained in an industrial setting
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems

• Computer literacy for maintenance records and reporting
