Job summary

Tata Technologies Ltd. in Solihull is recruiting a Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer to support production equipment, joining technologies and robotics.

You will troubleshoot, improve and optimise equipment to meet safety, quality, delivery and cost targets, with emphasis on preventive and predictive maintenance across welding, robotics and material handling systems. Role requires experience in automotive manufacturing, fault diagnosis, PLCs and root cause analysis, and will involve

Qualifications

• Manufacturing maintenance experience in automotive manufacturing.
• Experience with welding, robotics, conveyors, and material handling systems.
• Electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis and PLC troubleshooting capability.
• Proven ability to drive root-cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to maintain, troubleshoot, improve and optimise production equipment and joining technologies to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and OEE targets.
• Support preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Diagnose and resolve complex equipment breakdowns affecting production.
• Develop maintenance strategies and standards; monitor equipment condition.
• Support robotics systems from ABB, KUKA and Fanuc; improve uptime and cycle times.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis using structured methods (8D, 5 Why).
• Create and maintain preventive maintenance plans, SOPs and troubleshooting guides.

Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies, delivering exciting projects globally across Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial Heavy Machinery sectors.

The Role

Provide technical support to maintain, troubleshoot, improve, and optimise production equipment and joining technologies to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and OEE targets.

Area of Responsibility

Equipment Reliability & Maintenance

• Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
• Diagnose and resolve complex equipment breakdowns affecting production.
• Improve equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability.
• Develop maintenance strategies and standards.
• Monitor equipment condition and support predictive maintenance initiatives.
• Reduce downtime through root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
• Provide specialist support for a variety of welding equipment, including laser & spot welding, riveting, bolting and adhesive application systems

Robotics & Automation

• Support ABB, KUKA and Fanuc robotic systems.
• Troubleshoot robot faults and recovery issues.
• Improve robot uptime and cycle time performance.
• Support PLC-based automation and material handling systems.

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

• Lead Root Cause Analysis using 8D and 5 Why

Documentation & KPI Monitoring

Create and maintain:

• Preventive Maintenance Plans
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Breakdown Recovery Procedures
• Troubleshooting Guides

Monitor:

• Downtime Losses
• Equipment Utilisation

Launch & Commissioning Support

• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Support production ramp-up and launch readiness.
• Support equipment modifications and capacity enhancement projects.

Knowledge / Experience

Essential

• Manufacturing maintenance experience within the automotive industry.
• Experience with: Spot Welding, Adhesive Systems, Robotics, Conveyors, Material Handling Systems, Electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis, PLC troubleshooting, and Root Cause Analysis experience.

Desirable

• ABB, Fanuc or KUKA robots, Predictive Maintenance, Industry 4.0 systems, FACMON or similar manufacturing monitoring systems, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), Lean Manufacturing.
