Mowi Fish Feed in Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer (Electrician) to join the engineering team. The role covers electrical and mechanical maintenance for a 24/7 plant, with on-call shifts and a rotating schedule.

Having entered production in June 2014, Mowi Feed has quickly established itself as a competitive supplier of salmon feed playing a key role in supporting Mowi Farming in its delivery of high quality, nutritious and sustainable salmon.

Operating from its factories in Kyleakin, Isle of Skye in Scotland and in Valsneset in the Trøndelag Region of Norway, Mowi Feed has an annual production volume in the order of500,000 tonnes per year. We manufacture a broad portfolio of conventional and organic feeds for both fresh and seawater phases of salmon growth in Scotland, Ireland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Norway.

The Role – Electrician

MOWI Fish Feed is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate to take on the exciting and challenging role of Maintenance Engineer (Electrician)

The successful candidate will be working within the Engineering team, to support all departments in the efficient operation of all process related equipment.

The feed plant runs 24/7-365 and the successful candidate will be required to participate in a shift rota, including on call.

The main duties and responsibilities undertaken will involve:

• Undertaking electrical and mechanical problem solving and maintenance activities, alone and as part of a team
• Following the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures
• Troubleshooting faults as they arise and identifying best solutions
• Working with and maintaining records within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Liaising with fellow Maintenance Engineers and Department management regarding faults and planned maintenance schedules
• Collaborating with other departments and 3rd party contractors
• Maintaining a safe, clean and tidy workspace

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Decent computer literacy (sending emails, working with files and folders etc.)
• Competency working with common hand tools
• Competency working with electrical systems
  For example: 24VDC / 4-20mA control systems, 230-1000V (or above), 3 phase motors, VFDs etc.
  Hold current 18th Edition qualification, ECS Gold card etc.
• Familiarity with mechanical / Electrical components
• Experience in production, manufacturing, maintenance or servicing environment
• Good understanding of health, safety and environmental protocols and experience undertaking risk assessments and exercising risk reduction measures
• Excellent work ethic, professional attitude and interpersonal skills

Desirable experience (Not essential as full training provided)

• Forklift work / Slinging and signalling
• MEWP Operation

The place of work will be in the Mowi Fish Feed Plant at Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye and the position reports to the Maintenance Manager.
