Job summary

Ruth Wagstaff Recruitment is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for a food manufacturing site in Leicestershire. You will ensure automated production equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.

The role requires strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience, time-served via an apprenticeship or equivalent, and a proactive, collaborative approach to improve reliability and reduce downtime.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship or be time-served.
• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, ONC or HNC in Engineering.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience.
• Previous experience within food manufacturing or another fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across automated production machinery
• Diagnose and fault‑find electrical and mechanical systems
• Record maintenance activity using the CMMS system
• Support continuous improvement projects to increase reliability and reduce downtime
• Work closely with Production and Engineering colleagues to maximise plant performance
• Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and engineering compliance
