Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our established, Leeds-based manufacturing site (Rothwell). You will maintain and optimise automated production equipment, combining planned preventative maintenance with hands-on fault diagnosis in a modern, high‑automation environment.

Offering up to £65,000, 4 on 4 off days and nights, and ongoing training (PLC, electrical conversion, welding), the role provides clear career progression toward leadership and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification (City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3).
• Experience as a Maintenance Engineer in manufacturing or process environments.
• Electrical or mechanical multi-skilled maintenance experience.
• Practical fault-finding on automated machinery.

Responsibilities

• Complete PPM schedules and perform reactive maintenance to keep equipment operating.
• Investigate faults and carry out electrical and/or mechanical repairs.
• Work on complex automated production lines and process equipment.
• Maintain and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes and other components.
• Respond to breakdowns, identify root causes and implement solutions.
• Contribute to projects and continuous improvement activities.

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join an established, world-class manufacturing company in Leeds. The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and efficiency of production equipment across the site. The position combines planned preventative maintenance with hands‑on fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs, giving you the opportunity to work across a varied range of machinery and engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Completing PPM schedules and carrying out reactive maintenance to keep production equipment operating efficiently
• Investigating machinery faults and carrying out effective electrical and/or mechanical repairs
• Working on complex automated production lines and process equipment
• Maintaining and repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes and other mechanical components
• Responding to breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing lasting solutions
• Contributing to engineering projects, equipment upgrades and continuous improvement activities
• Looking for ways to improve machinery reliability, reduce downtime and increase production efficiency

Requirements

• Recognised engineering qualification, such as City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3 or an equivalent qualification
• Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer within manufacturing, production or a process-based environment
• Electrical or mechanical engineering and multi-skilled Maintenance Engineers
• Practical experience maintaining and fault-finding on automated machinery
• Confident diagnosing technical problems and carrying out effective repairs
• A proactive approach to maintenance, with a focus on equipment reliability and minimising production disruption
