Job summary

Kerry is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our Taste & Nutrition manufacturing site in Runcorn. You will perform planned preventive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and support continuous improvement to maximise equipment reliability and plant performance.

The role operates on early and late shifts, Monday to Friday, with a rotating schedule. We value a collaborative, hands-on engineer who can work with production teams to keep equipment safe and efficient.

Qualifications

• Qualified multi-skilled engineer with mechanical and/or electrical expertise.
• Strong experience in manufacturing maintenance and equipment reliability.
• Excellent fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proven track record in PPM, breakdown reduction and continuous improvement.
• Collaborative, hands-on approach with the ability to support others.
• Experience with SAP is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide full technical engineering support to the Production function.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety policy and regulations.
• Carry out risk assessments and implement controls to minimise risk.
• Lock off dangerous machinery and repair/notify as needed.
• Resolve breakdowns, carry out PMs and work on projects/improvement works.
• Undertake PMs on offline machinery when time allows.
• Complete PM sheets with observations, jobs, and recommendations; file with Maintenance Planner.
• Gather information from production personnel to speed fault-finding.
• Maintain engineering logs and computer systems with PM numbers, parts, plant numbers, and urgency.
• Communicate with external parties professionally.

About the role

We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team at our Taste & Nutrition Manufacturing facility in Runcorn. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in keeping our production equipment running safely and efficiently. This opportunity has arisen due to the planned retirement of a team member. You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM), responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement activities to maximize equipment reliability and plant performance. This is a permanent, full-time position operating on early and late shifts from Monday to Friday, alternation between 5.30 am - 1.30 pm & 1.15 pm - 9.15 pm, with specific schedule on Friday 5.30 am - 12.30 pm & 12.15 pm - 7.15 pm.

Key responsibilities

In this role you will provide full technical engineering support to the Production function. You will assume responsibility for the integrity of equipment by carrying out the following

• Complying with the health and safety policy and regulations
• Carrying out risk assessments with the relevant people and put controls in place to minimise the risk to acceptable levels where reasonably practicable
• Lock off any dangerous machinery immediately/ or repair and notify
• Resolving breakdowns, carryout PM's and work on project / improvement works with a view to minimizing production downtime
• Actively seek to undertake PMs on offline machinery where time allows???
• Fully complete PM sheets with all observations, jobs completed and recommendations and file with the Maintenance Planner, whilst always looking at ways of improving to PMs
• Actively gain as much information as possible from production personnel regarding the fault on the machine to speed up the fault-finding process
• Ensure engineering log and computer systems are fully filled in with all relevant information including PM numbers, all used parts, plant numbers, urgency of required parts, at the end of each shift
• Ensure all communications with external persons are conducted in a professional manner which reflects the company profile
