Job summary

Castle Employment Group in Whitby is seeking a hands-on Shift Maintenance Engineer on a contract basis to maintain electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will work rotating earlies, days and nights, perform fault finding and installations, and support planned maintenance and projects while ensuring safe, efficient operation. This role requires apprentice-trained electrical engineers with strong problem solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained electrical engineer with recognised qualifications.
• Min 12 months’ practical maintenance experience.
• Confident with 3-phase systems up to 415V.
• Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
• Strong problem-solving, planning and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Carry out electrical fault-finding and installations.
• Support planned maintenance, project work and breakdown responses.
• Ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Rotating shift pattern: earlies, days and nights on a Mon-Fri rotation.

Job description

An established, family-run manufacturing company is seeking a Shift Maintenance Engineer to join their experienced team in the Whitby area.

This is a CONTRACT ROLE for a hands-on, multi-skilled engineer with an electrical bias, working in a fast-paced and supportive environment where reliability and initiative are key.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a range of electrical and mechanical equipment
• Carry out electrical fault-finding and installations
• Support planned maintenance, project work and respond to breakdowns
• Ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently
• Rotating shift pattern earlies, days, nights on a Monday to Friday rotation

About You

• Electrically apprentice-trained with recognised engineering qualifications
• Minimum 12 months’ practical maintenance experience
• Confident working with 3-phase systems up to 415V
• Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic systems
