Reed is seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to lead a dedicated team of injection moulding maintenance engineers in our UK operation. You will drive machine availability, implement preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.

The role requires a professionally qualified engineer with strong mechanical and electrical expertise, proven supervisory experience, and excellent communication, planning, and record-keeping skills.

Qualifications

• Apprentice served or professionally qualified engineer/technician.
• Strong mechanical and electrical engineering background.
• Experience supervising an engineering/maintenance team.
• Good problem-solving and proactive approach.
• Excellent organisation and record-keeping.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge and injection moulding experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of injection moulding maintenance engineers.
• Ensure maintenance meets H&S, Environmental, and Quality requirements.
• Maintain machine availability and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Record maintenance activities using the Agility system.
• Coordinate with external technical support teams.
• Support project activities and CAPEX in the department.

Senior Maintenance Engineer

Join our innovative team at a leading specialist in plastic building and plumbing systems. We are seeking a Maintenance Team Leader to oversee a dedicated team of Maintenance Engineers within our Injection Moulding department. This role is ideal for a professionally qualified engineer with a strong background in both mechanical and electrical engineering, who is ready to lead by example and drive maintenance excellence.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Supervision and Team Management:
  • Lead and manage a team of injection moulding maintenance engineers focused on machine availability, preventive maintenance (PPM), and consistent output.
  • Provide direction, support, and mentorship to the team.
• Machinery Maintenance:
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with company and factory control procedures, adhering to Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality statutory requirements.
  • Conduct maintenance on injection moulding machines, conveyor systems, material systems, granulators, and ancillary moulding equipment.
  • Use a methodical approach to identify and address technical issues.
  • Liaise with external technical support teams to rectify issues.
  • Coordinate and record all maintenance activities using the Agility system.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Support and be involved with relevant project activities and capital expenditure in the department.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Apprentice served or professionally qualified engineer/technician.
• Strong technical background in both mechanical and electrical engineering.
• Proven supervisory experience in an engineering/maintenance department.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
• Self-disciplined with the ability to set and maintain high standards.
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• IT literate.
• Preferred knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques and experience in Injection Moulding.
