Job summary

ASC Connections is recruiting a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer for a plastics manufacturer in the UK. The role centres on maximising equipment performance, reducing downtime and driving continuous improvement across a modern production facility.

You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a range of equipment, diagnose faults, and support upgrades and improvement projects within a collaborative engineering team.

Qualifications

• Experience in plastic injection moulding manufacturing or production environment.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Experience maintaining automated production machinery.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Proactive hands-on approach and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Our client is an established and highly successful plastics manufacturer undergoing significant investment and expansion. Operating within a modern production environment, they are committed to innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable manufacturing practices. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer to strengthen their engineering team.

Working closely with production and engineering colleagues, you will play a key role in maximising equipment performance, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults to ensure maximum machine uptime.
• Supporting the optimisation and continuous improvement of production processes.
• Assisting with equipment upgrades, modifications, and improvement projects.
• Working collaboratively with production teams to identify and address operational issues.
• Contributing to a proactive maintenance culture focused on reliability and performance.

To be successful in this role, the ideal Maintenance Engineer will have:

• Previous experience within a plastic injection moulding based manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong mechanical engineering skills, with knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Experience maintaining automated production machinery.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• A proactive, hands‑on approach with a strong work ethic.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
