Job summary

The Compleat Food Group is looking for a maintenance engineer to execute planned and predictive maintenance on site, ensuring compliance with GMP, food safety, and hygiene standards. You will inspect, lubricate, test, and adjust plant equipment within allocated windows, and use CMMS to record history and actions.

You’ll identify risks, follow strict safety and isolation procedures, and escalate issues when needed, while contributing to continuous maintenance improvements across a food

Qualifications

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship with a Level 3 qualification, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience.
  • Electrical, mechanical or mechatronic qualification appropriate to site assets.
  • Relevant safety, isolation and permit competencies.
  • Proven experience completing planned and predictive maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong practical fault-finding capability across mechanical, electrical and control systems relevant to the role.
  • Experience recording work and asset history within a CMMS.
  • Experience with condition monitoring, failure analysis and maintenance improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Execute planned and predictive maintenance to the approved job plan, scope and standard.
  • Complete inspections, lubrication, adjustment, replacement and functional testing within the allocated window.
  • Carry out condition monitoring and act on early warnings before functional failure.
  • Confirm work quality and asset condition before safe handback to Operations.
  • Complete maintenance without compromising product safety, quality, hygiene or GMP standards.
  • Follow hygienic engineering controls and hand assets back clean, complete and fit for production.
  • Identify and escape asset conditions that could affect food safety, quality or process capability.
  • Record findings and corrective actions so maintenance evidence remains audit ready.
  • Work to approved risk assessments, permits, isolations and safe systems of work at all times.
  • Stop and escalate work where scope, condition or controls are unsafe or unclear.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Identify environmental, energy and utilities losses during maintenance activity and report them.

Required:
  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship with a relevant Level 3 qualification, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience.

Desirable:
  • PLC skills and knowledge (fault finding and programming)
  • Understanding of reliability centred maintenance
  • Food Safety Level 3
  • HACCP Level 3
  • Condition monitoring or reliability qualification is desirable.
  • Food manufacturing or another highly regulated environment is advantageous
