Job summary

Wills Consultants is recruiting an experienced Maintenance Engineer for an automated warehouse in Northampton. You’ll maintain fast-moving material handling equipment and deliver planned maintenance, fault rectification, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Role requires ONC/HNC/BTEC in Electrical/Mechanical/PLC Engineering, cross-training experience, PLC knowledge is advantageous, and the ability to work at height with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• ONC/HNC/BTEC or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or PLC Engineering.
• Cross-training between Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is desirable.
• PLC knowledge is advantageous for maintenance tasks.
• Experience with automated materials handling equipment.
• Ability to work at height and adhere to safety standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance on automated warehouse equipment.
• Fault rectification and fault eradication to keep operations running.
• Log daily activities according to the agreed method.
• Interact with the customer in day-to-day activities.
• Identify root causes and propose continuous improvement proposals.
• Communicate effectively within the team and with the customer.

Shifts: Monday to Friday 06:0-14:30 / 14:00-22:30

About the Role:

We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer for an automated warehouse based in Northampton. You will be response for the day-to-day maintenance of the fast flowing material handling equipment as well as:

• Delivery of key service elements such as planned preventative maintenance, fault rectification and fault eradication
• Ensure all aspects of their working day are logged as per the agreed method
• Fully interact with the customer in day-to-day activities
• Identify and resolve issues with the materials handling equipment, including identification of root causes, working proactively with the customer operations team
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and submit proposals
• Effectively communicate throughout the team and with the customer

Requirements:

• ONC/HNC/BTEC or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or PLC Engineering
• Recognised cross training from Mechanical to Electrical Engineering of vice versa
• PLC knowledge and experience is advantageous.
• Health and Safety Qualifications desirable
• Experience of automated materials handling equipment
• Ability to work at height.
• Highly proficient verbal and written communication skills desirable.
• Good team working skills.
