Job summary

Henderson Brown Recruitment is seeking a qualified Maintenance Engineer for a leading FMCG manufacturer based in North Lincolnshire. You'll operate on a 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off rotation, carrying out fault diagnosis, maintenance and improvements to packaging lines and conveying equipment.

The role focuses on reducing downtime, ensuring HSE compliance and working closely with operations to optimise production performance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience maintaining electrical & mechanical systems in manufacturing environments.
• Experience in roles such as multi-skilled engineer or shift technician.
• Qualified with NVQ/BTEC/HNC/HND or equivalent apprenticeship.
• Experience with automated machinery and packaging/food processing environments preferred.
• Ability to respond to breakdowns and perform preventative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs across electrical and mechanical systems to minimise production downtime
• Take a hands-on approach in both scheduled maintenance and immediate breakdown response
• Maintain, optimise, and repair equipment including slicing systems, seasoning units, conveyors, and automated packaging lines
• Participate in ongoing improvement initiatives to increase machine efficiency and reduce unplanned stoppages
• Work closely with operations and production teams to ensure smooth running of equipment and minimal disruption
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and internal maintenance procedures at all times

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs across electrical and mechanical systems to minimise production downtime
• Take a hands‑on approach in both scheduled maintenance and immediate breakdown response

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong hands‑on experience working with both electrical and mechanical systems in a manufacturing or production setting
• Experience in a similar role (such as multi‑skilled engineer, electrical maintenance engineer, shift engineer, shift technician, maintenance technician)
• Relevant engineering qualification – such as NVQ Level 3, BTEC, HNC/HND or equivalent apprenticeship
• Practical knowledge of maintaining and troubleshooting automated machinery – particularly in packaging or food processing environments (preferred but not essential)
• Confidence in reacting to breakdowns as well as carrying out preventative maintenance tasks
