Job summary

Sabert UK (previously Colpac) is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for our Flitwick site. The role involves installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining factory machinery, with a focus on preventative maintenance and safety.

Qualifications

  • Recent, relevant and proven experience as a maintenance engineer or similar role.
  • Higher level qualification in engineering or manufacturing.
  • Solid understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanics.
  • Familiarity using various power and hand tools.
  • Ability to stand for long hours and lift heavy loads.
  • Problem-solving and organisational skills, flexible and motivated to work safely.
  • Confident in communicating verbally and in writing in English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fast and efficient installation, diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance to all machinery, plant and equipment in the factory.
  • Carry out basic electrical fault diagnosis and repairs.
  • Facilitate large or major repairs to plant and equipment with the Senior Works Engineer.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a planned maintenance programme.
  • Show the effectiveness of planned maintenance by reducing breakdowns and ensuring smooth equipment installation.
  • Arrange procurement of sundries, parts and services with the Senior Operations Engineer within budget.
  • Coordinate external contractors for specialist work with the Senior Operations Engineer and Operations Director.
  • Participate in capital investment decisions and advise on Health and Safety issues.

Job description

Full time - 40 hours per week, based at Flitwick site.

As our Engineer, you will:

  • Provide fast and efficient installation, diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance to all the machinery, plant and equipment within the factory, keeping the Senior Works Engineer fully informed and up-to-date
  • Carry out basic electrical fault diagnosis and repairs
  • Work with the Senior Works Engineer to facilitate large or major repairs to plant and equipment
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a planned maintenance programme in consultation with the Senior Works Engineer
  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of planned maintenance through reducing numbers of breakdowns and problem-free equipment installation
  • Purchase sundries, machine parts and services, in liaison with the Senior Operations Engineer, with due regard for stock levels and overall budget
  • Arrange, assist and direct external contractors for specialist work or installations in consultation with the Senior Operations Engineer and Operations Director
  • Participate in the technical aspects of capital investment decisions
  • Advise senior management on Health and Safety issues or concerns

  • Confident in communicating verbally and in writing in English.
