Cala Consulting is recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a client in Chester. You will maintain machinery, equipment and systems to maximise productivity and minimise downtime in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements include time-served mechanical experience or a degree in mechanical engineering, 3+ years in a similar role, and practical knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics; basic electrical/PLC/CNC knowledge is desirable.

Qualifikationen

• Time-served mechanical engineer or degree in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience in a mechanical maintenance role within manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong practical experience with mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Basic working knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, CNC, or PC-controlled equipment desirable (mechanical focus remains key).

• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and machinery and arrange procurement of fixtures, fittings and components as required.
• Conduct quality inspections on jobs.
• Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment.

• Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs.
• Work with Senior Management to improve health and safety policies and procedures.
• Work as part of a team to ensure continuous flow of production and operations.

The company & the opportunity:

Working as part of the maintenance team the Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all machinery, equipment and systems are operating efficiently and effectively to maximise productivity and minimise downtime.

• Carry out routine and unplanned maintenance work and respond to equipment faults;
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and machinery and arrange procurement of fixtures, fittings and components as required;

• Work closely with Senior Management to improve health and safety policies and procedures;

Criteria:

• Time-served Mechanical Engineer or Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience in a mechanical maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong practical experience with mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics
• Basic working knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, CNC, or PC-controlled equipment desirable (mechanical focus remains key)
• Able to work independently, manage workload effectively, and prioritise maintenance activities
