Job summary

Alchem Partners Limited is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer for a family-owned chemical manufacturing business located in Bamber Bridge, England. The successful candidate will have a City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or above in Engineering, coupled with knowledge of FMCG machinery and at least 3 years of relevant experience. The position offers a salary of £40,138 per annum with opportunities for overtime pay.

Job description

Alchem Partners is recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a family‑owned chemical manufacturing business in the Northwest.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical breakdowns and execute repairs promptly to minimise downtime.
• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of machinery and equipment.
• Carry out scheduled work tasks and reports.
• Perform welding and fabrication duties.
• Manage stock of components and fittings, reordering as required.
• Operate the CMMS system.
• Complete PPMs.
• Liaise with supplier representatives.
• Maintain accurate service records and history reports.
• Understand and comply with lock‑out tag‑out procedures, COMAH, and related safety protocols.
• Perform any other reasonable duties relevant to the role.

Qualifications and Experience

• City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or above in Engineering.
• Knowledge of FMCG machinery.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a general engineering role.

Compensation and Working Hours

Salary: £40,138 per annum. Overtime is paid at time and a half, with an average of 25 hours available each month for those who choose to work it.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
