Job summary

Pioneer Selection – Manufacturing & Industry Recruitment Specialists is recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer in Portlethen, Aberdeenshire. The role involves maintaining a range of modern production and packaging machinery in a food/industrial manufacturing environment, with a 4 on / 4 off day shift (6am–6pm).

The successful candidate will perform both planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs, working closely with production to minimise downtime and optimise equipment

Qualifications

• Level 3 Engineering qualification or above is required.
• Experience in factory/manufacturing environments preferred.
• Multi-skilled maintenance with electrical or mechanical bias.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with PLC-controlled machinery, sensors and automated systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance support across the site, performing planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs.
• Work with production to minimise downtime and improve equipment performance.
• Maintain and service conveyors, packers, fillers, weighing systems, mixers and PLC-controlled machinery.
• Diagnose faults, implement improvements and support continuous production efficiency.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Portlethen, Aberdeenshire
Salary: £46,386 per annum
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off — Days, 6am–6pm
Sector: Food Manufacturing / Industrial Manufacturing

The Opportunity

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and secure food manufacturing business supplying some of the UK's major retailers.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking for long-term stability, career development and a varied technical role within a fast-paced production environment.

Working as part of the engineering team, you'll provide essential maintenance support across the site, carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs. You'll work closely with the production team to minimise downtime, improve equipment performance and keep production running efficiently.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of modern production and packaging machinery, including:

• Conveyors
• Packers and fillers
• Weighing systems
• Mixers and slicers
• Automated feeders
• PLC-controlled machinery
• Sensors and automated systems
• Pneumatic and hydraulic equipment

Essential Requirements

• Level 3 Engineering qualification or above
• Previous experience within a factory, manufacturing or Armed Forces engineering environment
• Multi-skilled maintenance experience with either an electrical or mechanical bias
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery, sensors and automated systems

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within food or meat processing
• Knowledge of refrigeration, steam and wider site services
• Experience with root cause analysis
• Background in continuous improvement
• Experience working within highly automated production environments
