Job summary

Approach Personnel are recruiting an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join the on-site engineering team in Bolton. This static site role sits within a well-established facilities management team, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the shopping centre and related facilities.

The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation of electrical systems, with Monday to Friday working hours in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial maintenance, facilities management, or retail environments.
• Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs safely.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and equipment.
• Respond to electrical breakdowns and reactive maintenance requests.
• Fault-find, diagnose, and repair electrical systems.
• Undertake minor electrical installation works as required.
• Complete routine inspections and testing of electrical equipment.
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed in line with statutory regulations and health & safety requirements.
• Accurately complete maintenance records and job reports using the CAFM system.
• Liaise with centre management, retailers, contractors, and fellow engineering team members.
• Support wider building maintenance activities when required.

Education

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Previous experience within commercial maintenance, facilities management, retail environments, or similar sectors.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Good understanding of health and safety legislation.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
• Experience working within shopping centres, retail environments, or large commercial buildings.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, fire alarms, and emergency lighting.
