Job summary

Lodestone Recruitment Ltd is assisting a Barnsley-based manufacturing site in recruiting a Maintenance Electrician to carry out plant maintenance on a day shift.

You'll be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, and keeping electrical systems running reliably across the site. The role requires apprentice training up to HNC/NVQ3 and 18th Edition, with opportunity for overtime and company benefits.

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained to HNC/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or equivalent).
• Proven background in electrical engineering within an industrial environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Fault finding PLC experience (Siemens preferred).

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
• Change bearings and gears
• Maintain and repair equipment including cranes, plasma/gas cutting machinery, saws and drills
• Work independently and use initiative to complete tasks
• Adhere to Health & Safety procedures and work instructions
• Organise and control subcontractors where required

Job description

Lodestone is working with our client who in Barnsley who require a Maintenance Electrician to carry out plant maintenance.

With manufacturing facilities in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, the business has growth plans. They are seeking a Maintenance Electrician for a role on regular days shift, which is rare in Maintenance.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment across site.

This role focuses on delivering planned preventative maintenance, responding effectively to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise equipment availability and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
• Change bearings and gears
• Maintain and repair anything from overhead cranes and jibs, plasma and gas cutting machinery, sawing and drilling machinery and grinders
• Work independently and use initiative to see tasks through to completion
• Adhere strictly to Health & Safety procedures and work instructions
• Organise and control subcontractors where required

Skills & Experience

• Must be apprentice trained to HNC or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or to similar standard)
• Proven background in electrical engineering within an industrial environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
• Ideally have fault finding PLC experience using experience such as Siemens
