Job summary

Lodestone Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Electrician in Sheffield to perform planned and reactive electrical maintenance on heavy plant and automated production equipment. The role focuses on reliability and uptime, with no installation work required.

The candidate should have a recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds), 18th Edition preferred, and experience with Siemens PLCs, HMI, and robotics within an industrial setting. Shift pattern applies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance across heavy plant and machinery.
• Fault-find and diagnose PLC faults (Siemens).
• Maintain, repair and support automated machinery and robotics.
• Work with HMI schedules and drives in daily maintenance.
• Respond to breakdowns and perform reactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Keep accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Work safely following site health & safety procedures.

Maintenance Electrician

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £43,700 per annum + annual bonus (subject to company performance)

Hours: Full-time, 2-shift rotating pattern (see below)

The Company:

Our client is a well-established, heavy industrial manufacturer based in Sheffield, operating a busy production site with a strong focus on automation and continuous improvement. Due to ongoing investment, they are now looking to add an experienced Maintenance Electrician to their engineering team.

The Role:

You will be responsible for the planned and reactive electrical maintenance of heavy plant and automated production equipment, working closely with the wider engineering team to maximise machine uptime and reliability. This is a maintenance-focused position — there is no installation work involved.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across heavy plant and machinery
• Fault-find and diagnose faults on PLC-controlled equipment (Siemens)
• Maintain, repair, and support automated machinery and robotic equipment
• Work with HMI schedules and drives as part of day-to-day maintenance
• Respond to breakdowns and carry out reactive maintenance to minimise downtime
• Keep accurate maintenance records and documentation
• Work safely and in line with site health & safety procedures at all times

What We're Looking For:

• A recognised electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
• 18th Edition qualified is preferred; candidates with 16th/17th Edition may also be considered
• Solid experience of heavy plant maintenance within an industrial environment
• Strong fault-finding skills on PLCs, ideally Siemens
• Experience with automated machinery and/or robotics
• Working knowledge of HMI schedules and drives
• Background in a heavy industrial, automated manufacturing, or FMCG environment
• Willingness and ability to work the shift pattern outlined below

Shift Pattern:

• A 2-shift rotating pattern, Monday to Friday:
• Week 1: 6:00am – 2:00pm
• Week 2: 12:00pm – 8:00pm
