Job summary

The Maintenance Craftsperson (Higher) Building and Flooring at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust will deliver high-quality maintenance of building fabric across Trust sites, including roofs, masonry, floors and finishing works in a healthcare environment. You will use drawings and specifications to repair or replace fabric elements while complying with HTMs, HBNs, Building Regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Conduct planned and reactive maintenance on building fabric elements across the Trust estate.
  • Undertake internal and external building repairs, alterations and improvements, ensuring HTMs/HBNs and Building Regulations compliance.
  • Install, manufacture, assemble and repair building components using drawings and specifications.
  • Specialise in flooring systems, maintaining healthcare standards.
  • Diagnose faults and resolve complex issues to minimise disruption.
  • Maintain and repair complex window systems ensuring safety and reliability.
  • Contribute to building condition surveys and capital improvement reports.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Craftsperson (Higher) Building and Flooring will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality, internal and external, building fabric replacement and repair services across Trust sites. The successful candidate will undertake the maintenance and potential re-development of a number of general building fabric elements including but not limited to roofs, masonry, internal partitioning, groundworks, hard landscaping and internal floor finishing and structure while ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, Trust policies and environmental standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced General Builder who is enthusiastic about maintaining and improving general building fabric elements within a complex healthcare setting, to join the Operational Estates team and contribute toward "making a difference" for our patients, visitors and staff.

What you will bring to the role
  • Conduct planned and reactive maintenance on building fabric elements across the Trust estate.
  • Undertake internal and external building repairs, alterations and improvements, ensuring compliance with HTMs, HBNs, Building Regulations and healthcare Estate standards.
  • Install, manufacture, assemble and repair a wide range of building and structural components, using technical drawings, specifications and professional judgement to deliver high-quality workmanship.
  • Specialise in flooring systems and finishes, ensuring floors, walls, ceilings and associated building fabric are maintained to healthcare standards.
  • Diagnose faults and resolve via repair complex issues affecting building fabric, structural components, roofing, windows, doors and associated fixtures to minimise disruption to hospital services.
  • Maintain and repair complex window systems, including locking mechanisms, gearing systems and safety features, ensuring statutory compliance and operational reliability.
  • Contribute to building condition surveys, inspections, technical assessments and the producing of reports and recommendations for future maintenance, refurbishment and capital improvement projects.
