Job summary

NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking a Maintenance Craftsman (Plumber) within our Estates Department at Ayrshire Central Hospital. The role involves delivering engineering services across hospital and community premises, reporting to the Plumbing Supervisor, and includes an on-call rota with a 36-hour week.

Essential is a City & Guilds Craft Certificate/Level 3 or equivalent. Experience in hospital building services and knowledge of Legionella control are advantageous; a UK driving licence is

Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Craftsman (Plumber) within our Estates Department based at Ayrshire Central Hospital

Hours:

36 per week (8.00am to 16.30 pm Monday to Wednesday, Thursday 8.00am to 15.30pm and 8.00am to 13.00pm Friday) With the requirement to participate in an on-call rota This post is offered on a permanent basis.

What you will do:

Following completion of a recognised apprenticeship and having gained extensive experience in this field, you will be part of a team reporting directly to the Plumbing Supervisor, responsible for the delivery of engineering services within a hospital environment and across community premises. You should be able to demonstrate versatility and experience on a range of complex plumbing maintenance work task schedules in addition to being an effective communicator.

You will also be required to take part in an on call rota and be able to work at other hospitals within Ayrshire to meet the demands of the service. Due to the requirement to participate in an on call rota it is desirable that the successful applicant should live no more than 30 minutes travelling time from the hospital.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

A City & Guilds Craft Certificate/Level 3 Certificate, or equivalent for the trade is essential. Experience in building services within a hospital environment including the control of Legionella in hot and cold water systems would be an advantage.

UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

A UK car licence is essential to this role.
