Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a service for all Goods-in deliveries and mail handling, as well as being accountable for receiving goods, booking in, correct distribution, and delivering the goods received across our client's International Research Centre.
Key Accountabilities:
- The unloading and delivery of heavy goods/pallets on site using the forklift.
- Moving goods around with the use of pallet trucks or trollies, depending on the size of items.
- Loading and unloading freight vehicles, trucks, and vans in line with H&S procedures.
- Physically moving stock, including unpacking and loading onto shelves within the store area.
- Receiving, entering, and transferring items into relevant delivery cages for delivery across site via company vehicle or forklift.
- Handling direct customer email and telephone enquiries professionally.
- Recording incoming goods in deliveries, couriers/freight/parcels/recorded and registered mail, retaining accurate records.
- Ensuring all packages and mail are collected, sorted, and distributed correctly across the site's various buildings.
- Processing all courier requirements, maintaining accurate records as required.
- Investigating lost packages and processing unidentified mail.
- Ordering items such as gloves, recyclable cups, and plastic bags, keeping to agreed stock levels.
- Maintaining printer cartridges across the site and replenishing as necessary.
- Maintaining stationery stock levels and replenishing supplies, such as paper.
- Fulfilling Syngenta gas cylinder orders, including installation/swapping of gas cylinders and updating cylinder hoses across the site. Training provided by BOC, responsible for reordering gases.
- Maintaining and replenishing stock levels of Syngenta solvent stores.
- Fulfilling consumables and PPE orders from Syngenta via email and online systems.
- Maintaining stock levels of all stores consumables, gases, and solvents, and ordering items using Syngenta's online system if required.
- Following all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements as per work instructions or training.
- Reporting hazards, accidents, occupational illnesses, and emergencies.
- Undertaking manual handling training and maintaining awareness of emergency procedures related to goods in, including suspect package procedures.
- Maintaining tidiness of goods, ensuring packing and pallets are removed as needed.
- Assisting during peak times with grounds team activities (e.g., hedge trimming, lawn mowing) — onsite training provided.
- Assisting during peak times with Waste & Moves team activities (e.g., chemical collection, waste collection) — onsite training provided.
Personal Experience/Qualifications/Skills:
- Full clean driving license.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- IT skills, including MS Office and database experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
- Experience handling large parcels, sorting, and mailing processes.
- Customer service orientation.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety and manual handling.
