Job summary

Beck House in Lakeside, Darlington, is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to help create a well-presented and safe environment for residents. You will maintain service facilities, assist with decorating, and liaise with contractors to support ongoing upkeep.

Joining an established team, you will receive training and opportunities to grow within Elysium Healthcare's Learning Disabilities & Autism services. The service opens January 2026 and offers a range of benefits including wellbeing support,

Responsibilities

• Maintaining service facilities and equipment to be fit for purpose.
• Use DIY skills to ensure resident safety.
• Conduct regular checks and maintenance.
• Repair and maintain all buildings.
• Assist with decorating.
• Report faults to a manager.
• Participate in 1-week on-call rota for emergency maintenance.
• Coordinate with contractors on site and complete paperwork.

Join Beck House in Lakeside, Darlington as a Maintenance Assistant where you will be part of creating a well- presented and safe environment for some of the most vulnerable people in society.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the services facilities are fit for purpose, gardening and will regularly conduct audits to identify and repair any faults ensuring a safe environment for service users, staff and visitors.

Working alongside an established team, you will turn your hand to all maintenance-related tasks, liaising with contractors to support the upkeep of the service.

You'll receive all necessary training to get you started and join the dedicated team, where you can make a positive difference and be part of changing lives for the better. As a Maintenance Assistant you will be:

• Assisting with ensuring that the service, buildings, facilities and equipment requirements are maintained and fit for purpose
• Utilising good DIY skills to ensure safety of service users is maintained
• Assisting in regular checks and maintenance
• Assisting in the repair and maintenance of all buildings
• Assisting in all decorating
• Liaising with a manager reporting all faults and defects
• Participating in a 1 week retaining on-call rota for the purposes of emergency maintenance
• Coordinating and supporting contractors whilst on site and completing of all paperwork and tool checks

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Comply with system and procedures
• Have previous experience within a maintenance role
• Work effectively as part of a team and independently
• Show courtesy and respect to residents at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of service
• Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings

Beck House is a registered care service with nursing that forms part of Elysium's Learning Disabilities & Autism complex care service, which provides six bespoke single-person apartments, enabling individuals to live in their own space.

The service is due to open in January 2026
