Job summary

Hamberley Care Homes in Kings Sutton, Northamptonshire, is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to help keep our luxury care home, Chawley Grove, well-maintained and safe for residents.

Reporting to the Maintenance Officer, you will carry out day-to-day repairs, safety checks, and liaise with staff, relatives and residents to ensure a high standard of living.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in maintenance and repair work.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Health and Safety awareness demonstrated in past roles.

Responsibilities

  • Keep home and grounds well maintained and safe for residents.
  • Carry out day-to-day repairs and refurbishment tasks.
  • Perform regular safety checks on equipment and keep records.
  • Collaborate with staff, residents and families as part of the team.
  • Assist with reporting and compliance with H&S legislation.

Job Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Officer, the maintenance team makes sure that we have a clean and well-maintained environment so that residents feel at home and staff can do their jobs well.

Responsibilities


  • Ensure the home and grounds are kept in a good state of repair and residents have access to all appropriate areas

  • Compliance with Health and Safety legislation throughout the home, including reporting of H&S incidents

  • Carry out day-to-day repairs and some refurbishment activity to maintain standards in the care home

  • Actively engage with staff, relatives, and families as part of the care home team and regularly engage with residents

  • Ensuring that regular safety checks and servicing are carried out on all equipment and accurate records are kept

  • Maintain excellent communication with the Home Manager and Residents


About You


  • Proven experience in maintenance and repair work

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate Health and Safety awareness through discussion

  • Can-Do flexible team worker, problem fixer, with a passion for what they do

  • Ability to manage diverse and demanding workloads, think out of the box, and be open to doing things differently
