There is no better time to start a career within our maintenance team than now!

Would you like secure employment where you can progress your career?

If you would like to build a career that gives you a genuine sense of achievement and fulfilment, knowing that you can have a positive impact on the young people we support, then look no further and apply today!

Sketchley School is recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant to join their maintenance team working across our three sites:

  • Progression House, Hinckley.
  • Forest House, Narborough.

We are looking for a passionate handyperson and an enthusiastic DIYer, who will carry out reactive day-to-day maintenance issues within the site and grounds. You will also assist in supporting our other schools in the community, liaising with contractors when on site and handling ad-hoc requests from management as needed.

Our benefits include exclusive access to a reward and discount scheme, comprehensive induction, commitment to ongoing training and career progression, pension scheme, paid-for enhanced DBS, wellbeing support, cycle-to-work scheme, and more!

As part of Aspris Children’s Services, we are immensely proud of the career pathways and training we can offer. We ask that you demonstrate the values needed for this role, along with transferable skills and life experience. In return, we will provide all the training and support you need to progress.

Ideally, you will have experience in general labouring skills and handyperson work, along with the following characteristics:

  • Resilience – Your working environment may involve interacting with young people who may display behavioral challenges, autism, ADHD, and emotional difficulties.
  • Organised – You should be confident and organised in record-keeping, ensuring issues are logged on internal computer systems and routine maintenance checks are up to date.
  • Communicative – Effective communication with your team, colleagues, and third parties, both verbally and in writing, is essential.
  • Attentive – Since no two jobs are the same, being attentive to understand tasks and identify areas where support is needed is important.
  • Flexibility – Working as part of a team, covering work patterns where necessary, and moving across all three sites during working hours.

Above all, we provide a supportive and collaborative working environment where you can flourish in your career and feel rewarded by helping those who need it most.

Interviews for this role will take place during the week commencing 30th June 2025.

If you want to progress your career, Aspris Children’s Services will help you get there.

Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service/Disclosure Scotland and at least 2 references covering the last 3 years. For roles within our schools, references may be requested prior to interview.
