Job description

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust is currently recruiting a Facilities Maintenance Assistant for New Oscott Retirement Village.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional to join our friendly, dedicated team at New Oscott Village to support the Village's commitment to delivering ExtraCare's mission of "better lives for older people".

Role Details:

  1. Hours: 37.5 hours per week - (occasional out of hour cover required).
  2. ExtraCare does not participate in the current "UK Visa Sponsorship" scheme, and we would not be able to facilitate sponsorship.

What will you do as our Facilities Maintenance Assistant?

  1. Undertake preventive maintenance duties in the residents' apartments and in the communal areas.
  2. Be proactive in the management of void properties, ensure water quality checks and general repairs are undertaken.
  3. Work with contractors on site to improve own knowledge of systems and to ensure that they are working to risk assessments provided.
  4. Record repair requests and defects.
  5. Attend site on a rota basis in the event of an emergency situation outside of your normal working hours.
  6. Carry out a handy-person service for the residents, anything from picture hanging to assembling flat pack furniture.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Ideally a facilities background in a multi-dwelling building.
  2. Skills in Carpentry and plumbing.
  3. Flexible to support the Scheme during emergency situations and outside of normal working hours as required on a rota.
  4. To take responsibility for the repairs and maintenance service with your team onsite.
  5. Have a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel to maintain a system for logging maintenance requests.
  6. Be reliable, punctual, and able to work unsupervised.
  7. Able to demonstrate strong communication skills including empathy.
  8. Excellent attention to detail.
  9. Committed to health and safety. COSHH or IOSHH desirable.
