Job summary

Kisharon Langdon UK is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our team in North West London. You will support a high-quality facilities service across multiple properties and ensure safety and compliance standards are met daily.

You will manage routine maintenance tasks, work with subcontractors, and handle basic trades, ensuring secure access and adherence to HS policies. Salary and benefits reflect a charity employer in London.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of basic maintenance strategies and building systems.
  • Ability to perform basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting/finishing tasks.
  • Broad knowledge of the building maintenance industry.
  • Knowledge of current legal responsibilities related to Asbestos, Legionella, Fire Safety, etc.
  • Qualified at Level 2 Building Maintenance or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety checks (fire alarms, legionella, emergency lighting, site safety).
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and routine inspections of premises and utilities.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks to keep properties in good condition.
  • Manage contractors on-site and ensure attendance procedures and HS procedures are followed.
  • Secure keys/access devices and maintain building security.

Job Title: Maintenance Assistant

Salary: £33,000

Hours: 36 hours per week

Location: North West London

Kisharon Langdon UK has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Assistant to join their growing team in North West London.

The Role;
  • Reporting to the Head of Maintenance, the Maintenance Assistant will assist in delivering a high-quality maintenance and facilities management service across our NW London sites.
  • You will be required to ensure compliance, conduct inspections/checks/testing, carry out and/or supervise repair & maintenance works at properties under the management of the Housing Team.
  • The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for the front-line service to our members for facilities and property management in relation to the 50 properties within the supported living services in North West London and Hertfordshire.
  • The post holder will be responsible for Langdon College, Maccabi House and various other properties as required: with the expectation to carry out various maintenance duties to the remaining rented housing portfolio.
  • As part of the role, the post holder will need to be responsible for managing sub-contractors carrying out preventative maintenance work, and at times, work with them to achieve the outcomes required.
Key Responsibilities;
  • To ensure health & safety checks including fire alarm testing, legionella flushing, emergency light testing, and site safety/security checks are carried out regularly at Kisharon Langdon properties and offices, maintaining the safety and welfare of our members and staff,
  • To carry out a preventative, planned maintenance program and undertake routine inspections of the premises, fixtures, fittings, utility meters, and grounds,
  • To carry out repairs, maintenance, improvement works and inspections to ensure the general upkeep and maintenance of the premises, e.g. assemble furniture, fit curtain poles, general household repairs etc,
  • To act as a contact for Contractors attending properties, ensuring they are fully aware of the organisation’s attendance procedures, that they will follow full H&S procedures/risk assessments and permits to work are issued/reviewed where required.
  • To ensure keys, access cards and access codes/fobs are signed out and recovered according to procedures, to maintain security of buildings,
  • To ensure basic electrical safety procedures are adhered to and PAT testing is organised and carried out as required.
About You;
  • Understanding of basic maintenance strategies and buildings,
  • Be able to undertake basic plumbing, carpentry, minor electrical and painting/finishing trades,
  • A good all-round knowledge of the building maintenance industry,
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legal and legislative responsibilities related to Asbestos, Legionella, Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Working at Height, COSHH, Building Regulations etc,
  • Level 2 in Building Maintenance or Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment Operations or similar.
